Increase the public debt, tax revenues fall. The deficit in May had reached 1752188000000 of €, an increase of 0.22% compared to 1.748224 trillion in April, the previous record high. This is what we read in the Supplement to the Statistical Bulletin of the Bank of Italy. In late December 2008, the public debt amounted to 1.662558 trillion: in five months, then, there has been an increase of 89.63 billion (+5.39%). Compared to 1648.74 miliardidi May last year, however, debt is instead increased by 6.27%.

As for tax revenue, Bank of Italy notes that during the first five months of the year were down 3.2%, to a minus of tax receipts of 4.5 billion euro. According to the tables covering the period from January to May, considered net of the Special Funds for the collection (ie the revenue already booked but no breakdown between fees and taxes) income tax cash were $ 134.8 billion, compared 139.3 billion the same period last year. 07/14/2009 11:45
